Homemade Candles
These beautiful hand-rolled candles are made from sheets of ivory, yellow and olive beeswax. A perfect complement to a homemade menorah, these candles make lovely window displays or gifts.
What You’ll Need
- Sheets of beeswax
- Utility knife
- Ruler
- Blow dryer
Slice wax sheets into 2-by-4 ½-inch rectangles using a utility knife and ruler. Cut wicking into 5 ½-inch lengths, making a knot close to one end. Use a blow dryer to warm the wax until it is just pliable (this takes about 10 to 15 seconds). Lay the wicking along the wax’s edge; let a ¾ inch of wick hang beyond wax. Roll wax around wicking, pressing the seam with your finger to smooth and seal candles.
