Bird Food
Here’s a great recipe for a birdie treat that is easy to whip up with your kids. For this project, you’ll need:
- Lard
- Small bowl
- Birdseed
- Saucepan
- Stale bread
- String or ribbon
1. In the saucepan, melt the lard slowly over low heat.
2. In the bowl, crumble the bread into small pieces.
3. Once the lard has melted, pour it over the bread pieces in the bowl.
4. Add in the birdseed. You may also want to add some fruit pieces to the mix.
5. As the lard cools, form the mixture into a ball and then push your string or ribbon through the middle.
6. Once the lard has completely cooled and hardened, hang this tasty bird treat up alongside your bird feeder.
