Give your kids the ability to talk to the right strangers if they're ever in a situation where they're lost, alone, or in danger. If your child becomes lost, the first thing he or she should do is to approach a woman and ask for help. Women are more likely than men to become emotionally invested in your child and are statistically almost never sexual predators. Plus, women are almost always around and easy to find.

I'm a woman but I find this piece of information disturbing, not to mention gender-biased and discriminating to the opposite sex.

I think kids should be taught to look for a polic officer first before talking to anyone else. Cause as kids they really have low level of uderstanding and it would create a somewhat discomfort to male gender if we taugh them to talk to women only.

Maybe we could share something that will teach us parents not to lose our kids in places. Thats the first step.

I agree. What's really important is how to teach your kids what to do when they get lost. Like whom to call, whom to look for and so on... But if the scenario is being at home and a stranger rings the doorbell, that's a different story. you should also teach your kid any precaution measures. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

thanks on agreeing with me on this one carla. Kids does not really understand why we tell them to avoid talking to strangers, they might get the wrong idea when we tell them to talk to women only.
