Hi! I have a concern about how my friend is raising her child. Every time her son does something that she doesn't like, she scolds her son, and at times she hits him with the belt. She said it's just right so that her son would really regret what he has done and won't do it again. The worst part is, she would scold him all the more if he cries when she scolds him. I think it can really cause emotional distress to the kid. And that can affect his development too.. I think all parents should be aware of how "improper" scolding can affect their children.

Parents should be wary about giving corporal and or emotional "punishment".There are people who think of it as the best way to discipline a child but the truth is there is just a very thin line that separates corporal "discipline" punishment to physical abuse. Same goes with emotional or verbal abuse.

you bet! children who experienced trauma, either in a verbal or physical manner can exhibit destructive characters when they grow up. It could also be a factor why there are people who become psycho killers... it's sad but true.
