the last time we went on a road trip we bought a portable DVD to keep the kids entertained. luckily it was just a two hour trip so the DVD pretty much lasted almost the whole 2 hours. |

how about games like I-Spy? My personal favorites are Slug a bug (count how many volkswagen beetles) and name that tune of their favorite songs that I put on my iPod. I've taken the kids on long road trips whenever we visit my in-laws and games like these can keep them entertained. |

my baby is still quite young so the motion of the car puts him to sleep. but slug-a-bug I remember playing! but there arent as much beetles on the road as it used to! |

Luckily California is a long way from Boston so whenever I visit home, we take the airplane. We color and watch videos on the plane. |

if your kids are old enough you can also play the license plate game. you can name animals for the letters on the plate. we used to do this when we were kids! |
|

how about a family sing a long. you can load up your iPod and sing along... except for the driver of course...hahaha... |

we map our route that has a lot of interesting places to stop by. this way the kids are always excited going on the road. luckily my baby falls asleep when he is in the car so he is not so fussy. |

When we visited my family for thanksgiving we played I-SPY and name that tune. They also had lots of toys with them and my husband installed a DVD a the back of our mini van so they were pretty much entertained the whole 5 hour trip home. |

how about flash cards? i know it is hard to play this in a car but it can be quite fun... |

the games suggested sounds good. also dont forget to pick a scenic route and take frequent stops! |

car color name game is always fun. if your kids know their color then the first one to name the color of the car that passes or you pass gets a point! |
