never tried to let my 25-month old son to brush his teeth on his own because i know for a fact that at his early age, he would only play with it and eat the toothpaste instead. so what i normally do is to get a piece of white clothe and soaked it in a glass with half-filled warm water mixed with a small amount of toothpaste and lather the damped clothe all over his mouth, teeth and even in his tongue where usually a bed of white thick layer lies as a result of milk residue. |

I have the same problem with my toddler. I just do the brushing like playing, I will her to smile like taking a picture and to open her mouth like singing a song. She participates well so it solve the problem. |

Mine did that, until I got an electric toothbrush...I bought a little cheapie one, but she loves it and always wants to brush now...I guess bc it's "fun" or something, LOL...it could also be her 2 year molars coming in...if her mouth hurts, she won't want to brush... |

Well, with my almost 20 month old, I first brush his teeth with the finger toothbrush myself, then when I'm done I let him try it himself with the big boy toothbrush. I have a much easier time with the finger one since I really have to do it myself still. |

Have you tried the singing musical toothbrushes? I agree make it fun. Also, brush your teeth at the same time she brushes hers so that she see Mommy doing the action. My toddler wants to do anything I do. |

Let her brush your teeth! Even if there is no toothpaste on it. Then take turns. It might work. |
