do your kids talk back? how do you deal with it?

bethdavis - December 6th, 2010 2:35 AM

i always tell them to not speak until i am done talking and to talk only when asked a question. it has worked out so far.

carrie - December 6th, 2010 4:11 AM

they are punished with no snacks or no computer if they talk back to me!

Innah - December 7th, 2010 3:02 AM

if you teach your kids to listen then they wont talk back. they also follow by example so if they are telling you something you should listen and let them finish first.

when my son talks back I give him a time out. He has to spend 30 minutes facing the wall in the corner of the living room.

they are still too young... but if they did i would wash their mouths with soap! LOL!

you should also observe your relationship with your husband. if you fight in front of your kids and you talk back to each other then the kids are bound to immitate you.

you can discipline them when they talk back. this way they will know that there is a consequence to talking back.

DaNiElLe - December 13th, 2010 4:11 AM

we have a no talking back policy at home. this goes for all of us.

Honey - December 15th, 2010 4:18 AM

my dad who is a military man had a speak only when spoken to policy at home. we were raised via military way. even though I hated it before I married a military man and use this kind of discipline with the kids. of course they can talk to us anytime, but when they are being disciplined they have to listen first before they can talk.

there is always an equivalent punishment. this is grave because talking back is very bad in my book.

Harriet_W - December 19th, 2010 11:32 AM

they are punished with chores that they dont like!
