Does your child nail bite? How do you stop this kind of mannerism?

JanessaR - February 21st, 2011 1:54 PM

I bite my own nails! very disgusting habit. we really can't stop kids from biting their nails because that kind of habit may have some connection with what they feel. but we can always lessen and sooner prevent them from biting their nails..

i think they do it out of habit and also being nervous. they we really cannot control that but you need to remind him/her about the bad habits of nail biting

unhygienic habit. it also a gesture that indicates nervousness or anxiety.

it's true... nail biting might be caused by an underlying anxiety. try to check with you kiddo if there's something he/she is nervous about and help him/her overcome that kind of mannerism. it's unhealthy.

most common explanation about nail biting is when a person is nervous and has anxiety.

marthaS_00 - February 25th, 2011 9:11 AM

its really not hygienic, cause they could be touching anywhere and unaware of the bacterias thats come with it, best to break that habit

MamasBoy23 - February 25th, 2011 12:57 PM

biting nails is untidy. we use our hands all time and kids will just bite their nails even if their dirty. they don't mind. make them stop the habit.

AbhyGale5 - February 26th, 2011 1:46 PM

we all know that biting nails is very unhygienic. it is dirty biting nails. but most kids is making it as a habit. make it a habit too to stop then whenever they try doing it.

We don't want to see our children's fingers bleeding because of a simple nail biting. Stop them when they attempt to do so and talk to them about the reason why that habit needs to be stop.
