I want to help my child overcome his fear of the dark. He gets anxious especially when is alone. It is starting to cause a problem since he can no longer work on his own. It is impossible to be with him all the time and so I want him to overcome such fear. I'm sure some of you can relate to me... any thoughts on how I could help my child?

fear of the dark is very common among children.
they get anxious because they don't know "what is in the dark", and so technically speaking, they don't know what they are scared of. You just have to constantly affirm or confirm to your child that not all dark places can be considered as scary. Normally, kids can outgrow their fears as new fears starts to set in.

i remember i was too afraid of the dark until i saw a feature in sesame sreet that when its dark things appear a bit different, so wht i did is i gae a sample to my kid like shadows reflected by light and stange noises caused by winds. there are also children stories about fear in the dark.
