What are the signs and ways to know? How early is it to tell that my kid of just 1 year old has a hearing defect? If I get her to a specialist early on in his life it might prevent or lessen the disability.

1 year old baby is able to respond to sound very well. Does your baby react to sounds like loud noises, mention of his name and other noises?

I think as early as a couple of months or infants can already hear different sounds. They might identify those sounds yet but when they turn a year older or two, then you must be able to tell if they can identify or not.

A baby is able to hear sounds earlier on compared to sight. First few months his eyesight may not be as developed as his sense of hearing. 8months and beyond the baby is able to respond and react to different kinds of sound.

The best way is to bring your baby to a medical professional. Have him or her diagnosed for hearing disabilities.

Try talking o your kid on he right side if he turns to you ust to listen to you then his right ear is deffective. try it on the other ear. See the response your baby gives (calling their name gets their attention quicly). Had same experience with my brothers baby.

LucySummers is right, but try also to consult your family physician if he really has a hearing disability
