Commonly, menstruation begins during our "teens" but it doesn't really follow that very girl menstruate during their teens... Some could have their menarche as early as 8 (the one jackie mentioned) while others could have it as late as 16 or so... It widely varies. |

They say that when a girl menstruates early, they also menopause early. |

I can totally relate, corrine! ;) when i saw the blood stain on my undies i almost fainted! I cried and cried but good thing was able to pacify me. She just told me it happens to all girls that I should not worry. :) |

It normally happens as early as age 9 years old or up to the age of 15. Menarche most commonly happens sometime between ages 11 and 14. If you have not started having periods by age 15, see your doctor. |

Isolated premature menarche is the term when it occurs at a very early age for a girl. This can be a symptom of precocious puberty, or puberty occuring at a very early age than the normal. A few cases of the former are triggered by trauma to the brain or tumor. |
