I'm a mother of a 10-year old kid and I really don't know how to deal with my son having crushes. As a mother, ofcourse you would also want to be the only girl in your son's life until "that right time" comes. I feel awkward when my son talks about his school crush. I just don't know what to say to him. I'm afraid that I might encourage him in a "boyfriend-girlfriend" relationship, which is really not appropriate for his age group, but I also don't him to feel bad because it's just a normal thing. Please help.

Sometimes just merely listening would help. We don't really need to say something to them. You just ask your kid how he feels about it that he has a crush and that how he feels having a crush in school. Questions that can make him realize what he wants to realize and in the same way you get to know how your child really feels about having a "crush". Try to check what a "crush" means to him.

Agreing with paula on this, we should not be so reactive to our kids emotion, confirm that crush but make a deal with you kid that unless its the right time you wil be the ony girl in his life.

its really not a bad thing to have your son have a crush on someone, actually it might give him the inspiration to excel more on school

how cute! teehee :D it's really normal for us to have crushes. Don't worry too much, be relieved that your son has a girl crush instead! LOL! :)

Let him be. There is nothing wrong with what he is doing or what he feels. Like you already said, it is normal. What I can advise you is to talk to your son. Ask him if he can share his thoughts and how he feels towards his crush. Better he talks to you than somebody else who might give him bad advise.
