Your baby's (newborn) fingernails grow quickly just after birth, so you will probably need to trim them every two or three days during those first three weeks. The easiest and safest time to trim your baby's nails is when she is in deep sleep. You can tell your baby is in deep sleep when her arms and legs hang limply and her hands are wide open. Your baby's nails will also be softest just after a warm bath, so try giving your baby a bath before bed, and then trimming her nails after she falls asleep. Another good time to trim your baby's nails are during breastfeeding when she is so focused on eating, she won't notice you fussing with her hands - use a Boppy pillow to support his body so your hands are free.

Just wanna greet all the moms here!

we have to trim our babies nails cos that might scratch their skin, for we know they have a very soft and sensitive skin.if you're afraid to trim your babies nails just let them wear Gloves just to avoid skin damage.

To trim is to be safe,TrekShopper's right. if you are not going to trim your baby's nails, make sure you'll have him/her wear gloves.its for you and the baby's sake. :)

Maeve2011 - February 11th, 2011 2:19 AM

trimming your baby's nails must have to be done every week, as we know they will scratch their skin and might hurt themselves.

BeautifulStar - February 11th, 2011 3:59 AM

its important to trim baby's nails so they wont scratch and have scar.just to be safe.

Some moms find it easier to cut baby’s nails while she is asleep. It doesn’t always work but if you wait until baby is down for the count sometimes you can get them trimmed without waking her.thats what i always do.
