Valentine's Day Recipes: Valentine's Day Desserts: Caramels

These sumptuous caramels are sure to win your heart!


  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 pink heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract

Grease a 12 by 14 inch pan. In a pot, combing the sugar, brown sugar, evaporated milk, corn syrup, butter and whipping cream. Use a candy thermometer to check the heat while you stir.

Remove the pot from the heat when the thermometer reaches 250 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees Celsius) and then stir in the vanilla. Move the mixture into the greased pan and let it cool.

Once it’s cool, cut the caramel into squares. Wrap the caramel squares in wax paper if you’re planning on storing them.
