Sugared Fruit
Whether you eat the sugared fruit or pile it atop a pedestal plate, it’s a beautiful Christmas decoration that brings to mind the snow falling outside.
You will need the following supplies:
1½ pound fruit, such as plums, peaches, pears, lady apples, grapes, figs, apricots
1/3 cup meringue powder mixed with 3 or 4 tablespoons water (according to directions)
¾ cup sugar
Put the meringue mixture in one small bowl and the sugar in another. Take each fruit and use a pastry brush to dip it in the meringue (if you’re not eating the fruit, use 3 large egg whites). Then roll it in the sugar and place it on a piece of wax paper to dry in a warm place. Once the sugar has dried and hardened, eat or use as decorations!
