what is time out for your toddler? we have him face the wall for 20 minutes...

mi@ - December 22nd, 2010 4:13 AM

time out for us is playing alone in the corner too.

Innah - December 26th, 2010 2:44 AM

Time out is some alone time without talking or moving. not necessarily in the corner.

time out is no toys and quiet time until he calms down.

time out is sitting on the corner facing the wall.

our time out is punishment depending on the crime. it is not always sitting in the corner it can be other things.

i tell them to go to another room for time out. it depends on how bad they were. for me kids need time to be alone or to think about their behavior. hence the time out from everything.

Bennie - December 31st, 2010 4:18 AM

our time out is the same as yours. although this does not work well with toddlers as they cant sit still for long periods of time older kids aged around 4 or 5 think twice before misbehaving due to fear of timeout.

i seldom use time out. if kids get used to this form of punishment or any form they dont take it seriously.

its not as effective as it used to be. so now instead of a time out we have chores instead... kids hate chores! :)

naomi3550 - January 2nd, 2011 3:23 AM

yes. for me it is important to just make them stop whatever foolishness they are doing and to just have a quiet time.
