what do you think are the drawbacks to using the reward system when you are disciplining your toddler?

carrie - December 11th, 2010 4:40 AM

very effective so long as you only reward the things that really need rewarding. otherwise they wont do anything without a reward.

Harriet_W - December 12th, 2010 2:52 AM

i like this. it is easy and the kids love it.

Samantha - December 13th, 2010 3:16 AM

sometimes they only do it because they expect a reward and cry if they dont get one.

DaNiElLe - December 14th, 2010 3:39 AM

if they get used to it they wont do anything anymore. which is why i only reward them when they are exceptionally good.

Allyson - December 16th, 2010 3:20 AM

i agree. they expect a reward and then pout when you dont give them something!

QmelQ - December 19th, 2010 4:03 AM

no drawbacks for me as I only reward them with food sometimes.

Tessa - December 19th, 2010 11:16 AM

this is good. it gives them incentive to do something. plus it is easy to do. i dont notice any drawbacks for my kids.

for me there's nothing wrong with the reward system. it is a great training tool and it does not have to be something physical you give them. it can be praises or a hug.

JaneDoe - December 25th, 2010 1:17 AM

i agree with LiSa. you can just give them a kiss or fuss with their achievement.

cara_donnie - December 27th, 2010 12:07 AM

i dont reward all the time so it's ok for me.
