One of my kids is overweight for his age (3 years old) and I am getting worried as he is fond of sweets. I know it's not good to put him on a diet right now, but how do I help him lose weight?

mommad - December 9th, 2010 3:34 AM

he is still young but I suggest slowly cutting off the sweets early on. this can lead to complications and diseases later on.

i think 3 is too young to go on a diet. You can help him lose weight through activities that require you to move around a lot. Also expect him to lose weight when he starts school. Kids are usually busy at this age.

he can exercise by running, playing and just being a kid! besides chubby kids are cute. later on he will become self conscious and lose weight on his own.

give him lots of activities that involve movement!

he should be fine as long as he is an active child. you can try inroducing him to a sport and perhaps this will help him lose weight.

i will go with karenJ's idea of sports. this is good clean fun plus healthy too!

my siblings and I were chubby growing up but slimmed down after the 6th grade. kids become more self conscious at this age and will take steps to slim down.

my kids are chubby too. but it's ok with me. i know they will lose the weight later.

it is important to watch their weight while they are young. make sure to feed them healthy food in reasonable portions!

JaneDoe - December 19th, 2010 11:38 AM

let him play some sports! you can take him swimming or teach him how to play soccer and other activities that will keep him moving!

i agree with the above. sports as well as outdoor activities can really get kids in shape compared to computer games.
