kids say everything and anything they want to say. They don't really mean to hurt other people but they are naturally observant and they blurt out words that may rather be "impolite"... how do handle such matters?

well i think bill cosby did his part on making the adults understand that kids do say the darnedest things, we should not be offended as this is just their observation.

I agree with Martha, but I guess what Hailey wants to avoid the kid from becoming ill-mannered. While it is important that you don't scold the kid coz he/she might think that being "observant" is a bad thing, you'll just have to let them understand why it's considered impolite (whatever it is that may apply).

i think it is better to tell your kid, "next time, it would be better if you can say this (blah blah blah) because..." instead of saying, "what you did was wrong wrong, you should say this". That way you don't give your kid the impression that what he/she did was entirely/politically incorrect... giving out suggestions would be a better option, i guess.
