Hi mummies,

Have anyone of you encounter the same problem like me? My son 3 yrs old, can't sit still, can't follow instruction, can't talk properly.

I always beat his hand when he not follow instruction but this method is useless. He will not scare, he will continue to do if you didn't notice him.

Do I need to bring him to see doctor???

Is your child like this since young? As in cannot sit still during lunch or dinner?

I feel that children of this age are a rebellious lot. Sometimes they will purposely ignore your questions or commands. They are very smart. They know who they can bully. As for not speaking properly, which area are you referring to? Stammer or talk too slowly?

Do you spend a lot of time with your child? Is he trying to get your attention by being naughty? Is he the only child?

Sometimes we get very angry when our child do not follow our instructions. We get upset when they do not behave like the rest. A 3 yr old child is trying to exercise his independence. Show his temper, cry for no reason, huge temper etc...

If you are really worried, do bring him to see a PD.

I have a 2.5 yr old boy. He is forever testing our patience. He will never sit quietly with my parents or Hubby. But with me, he can sit quietly playing or eating. He is selective. He will bully my parents but not with me or Hubby.

Don't worry too much. If indeed something is not right, then early intervention is the solution. Take care!

Does your kid sit still during TV shows or while doing his fave activity? If he can sit still, then it's not ADHD. Real ADHD kids will walk around all the time.

Is he also given a conducive environment to learn languages? If he's kept at home all the time with pple who don't really communicate with him (eg. maid) then it's not his fault. Make sure he's given a social setting eg. childcare. Some kids have delayed speech but they turn out ok after a while. My friend's gal is 4 and still can't speak coz she didn't send her to childcare.

He could also be throwing tantrums as he has limited language skills to express himself. You don't understand what he wants and he can't tell you. Teach him to use words to express himself instead of crying. But he is in the terrible twos and threes stage, so be patient.

But it's still good to seek an opinion of the professionals. There are behavioral therapists and also speech therapists you can turn to.

Running around the house, slamming things when tantrums strike, scream like crazy, play like theirs no tomorrow..... OMG! Headache!

If your child feels difficulties in paying attention at school work or homework, you don’t need to worry. Here are the symptoms of ADHD. Just to check it out first by yourself and then consult your doctor or a professional psychologist if necessary. :)
