is it OK to pay my 10 year old to do chores. this is like an incentive for me so that he will help around the house and learn the value of money.

yes! but before i would prefer giving them money if they do good in school. so they would know that getting a good education is very important.

there's two sides of a coin... making them work for something with the promise that they will get something back or like plainly bribery is not always healthy. Children might think that you always have to have something in return. They can become conditional in doing tasks... it's like, i will only do this IF... u might fall into your own trap.

At this age I don't think they can understand the value of money. They are used to people doing things for them and people buying them things. I think it is better if you reward with other things and not money. How about a treat like a trip to the movies or some chocolates or lunch at McDonald's.

Why not? I think it is good training and incentive. Training them to work hard for the money is teaching them the value of hardwork and discipline.

For hard chores yes. But for easy ones no.
