what is an age appropriate musical instrument for a 5 year old boy?

Samantha - December 19th, 2010 11:54 AM

how about drums or the piano? piano is good for kids this age...

piano! piano is fun and great to sing-along to!

i think something easy like the drums is OK.

karenJ - December 26th, 2010 1:43 AM

something and does not take long to learn. this way it keeps them interested long enough to play something.

i think piano is best. easy to learn and people usually have either a piano or keyboard at home.

i like the idea of the drums! very cool!

something easy like tambourine or drums. guitar is hard because you need to learn the hand placements. I think piano is also easy to learn.

the drums sound really cool! although they are easy to learn, it might take a little boy some time. but hey banging on a drum is always fun!

most homes have pianos so i think it is convenient.

thanks for the suggestions! we have a keyboard at home and he really likes to "play" with it. i taught him how to play very rudimentary twinkle twinkle little stars and he seems to get the hang of the piano.

i will also look into drums. it really sounds cool!
