Hey everyone!
I just want to share the grief we felt when my cousin gave birth to her first born - blind! We were all surprised and sad. I personally don't understand how it happened. We didn't know it until the baby turned i think that was her 4th or 5th month when the doctor said that there was something wrong with her eyes. It would really be great if this forum can discuss the possible causes as well as the possible interventions.

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's first born.
It is really possible for a child to be born - blind. It also has something to do with the child's brain development. Physically you can see that their eyes are perfect but the brain is having trouble processing the information that there eyes send.

well im almost legally blind, so i somewhat know how it feels. poor kid. but have you ask your doctor if surgery can help your nephew gain his vision. i hope it does...

did your cousin have some sort of disease like German measles when she was pregnant? i read that there are diseases that the mother contracts while pregnant that can lead to this kind of stuff.
