Valentine's Day Recipes: Valentine's Day Desserts: Cupcakes

These heart-shaped Valentine's Day cupcakes make a delicious Valentine's Day dessert and can also be given as a Valentine's Day gift to those you love.

What You'll Need

  • 2 squares of unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of flour


Once you have your ingredients ready, preheat the oven to 350°F. Microwave on high heat the unsweetened baking chocolate and butter in a medium-sized, microwave-safe bowl for 1 minute or until the butter has melted. Stir until chocolate has fully melted. Stir in sugar.

Blend in eggs and vanilla to the mixture. Add flour and stir until the ingredients have blended.

Distribute the mixture evenly using a spoon into 10 paper-lined medium muffin cups.

In order to create a heart shape, insert a small (1/2-inch diameter) ball of aluminum foil between each liner and muffin cup.

Bake the cupcakes for approximately 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out with fudgy crumbs. Be sure to monitor the cupcakes so as not to overbake.

Cool cupcakes on oven wire racks. Top with decorations and other toppings if desired, such as whipped topping, maraschino cherries, or sprinkles.
