how does a child acquire polio? and what other serious effects can it do to the person??

a kid gets polio because he wasn't vaccinated against the virus. i think this is one of the first shots given to infants after birth.

It is caused by viral infection. It attacks and causes weakness or even paralysis to affected muscles. It can also lead to a decrease in size of the muscles or muscle wastage. I think the worst you can get would be diseased heart muscles.

from what I know polio shot is required for babies....
I remember my grandma was so worried since back then they have not discovered the cure for polio.

Polio is caused by the poliovirus. You get polio via contact with stool infected with the poliovirus. The best cure for polio is preventing it from happening.
